Toyota Models with Third Row Seating
There have never been more options for people who need seating for more than five people in their vehicle. Three rows of seating have become a fairly common feature, and there are quite a few Toyota models that offer it. Since the Toyota model lineup is so extensive, it might be hard to keep track of which models offer a third row of seats. Fortunately, the following guide will be a big help.

2025 Toyota Highlander

- Up to 22 city / 29 highway / 25 combined MPG**
- Seating - 7 or 8 Passengers
Practical, comfortable, and safe, Toyota had growing families in mind when designing the Highlander. Efficiency was a priority too, with a 2.4-liter engine that balances ample power with great fuel economy. For those who want even better fuel economy, there is an available hybrid drivetrain that delivers even more fuel savings. Additional configuration options include available all-wheel drive and second-row captains’ chairs. There are also options like a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 11-speaker JBL stereo system, for an elevated listening experience.

- Starting at $42,220 MSRP*
- Up to 20 city / 26 highway / 22 combined MPG**
- Seating - 5 or 7 Passengers
Soccer practice and shopping trips aren’t the only times you want to bring the whole family with you somewhere. When you need to take everyone off-road, there is the 4Runner. The 4Runner is built on the same platform as the Tacoma pickup, and the tough body-on-frame construction makes the 4Runner the most off-road-ready three-row SUV in the Toyota lineup. To go with this, there are available all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, off-road-specific cruise control, and of course, a 4x4 drivetrain. A potent available hybrid drivetrain boosts both power and efficiency.

2025 Toyota Grand Highlander
- Starting at $42,310 MSRP*
- Up to 21 city / 28 highway / 24 combined MPG**
- Seating - 7 or 8 Passengers
This is the perfect context to talk about the Grand Highlander, because the primary thing that sets it apart from the standard Highlander is the space in the third row. While the Highlander has great third-row space for kids, the Grand Highlander is made to be able to comfortably carry adults, thanks to the 5.5 inches of extra third-row legroom. There’s more cargo space, too, especially if you fold down all or part of the third row. The interior is highly useful, with 13 cupholders and seven USB-C ports, as well as available wireless charging. And everything you already love about the Highlander is available for the Grand Highlander, including all of the same drivetrain options.

2025 Toyota Sequoia
- Starting at $64,370 MSRP*
- Up to 21 city / 24 highway / 22 combined MPG**
- Seating - 7 or 8 Passengers
For the most interior space, the most power, and the highest towing capacity of any Toyota SUV, the Sequoia is what you need. In standard form, the spacious interior accommodates eight. Opting for the available second-row captains’ chairs reduces the seat count to 7, although second-row passengers are likely to be fine with that. Like the 4Runner, the Sequoia is built on a truck platform, and a seriously impressive towing capacity is the result. You can also use that toughness for off-roading with the TRD Pro trim. Power comes from a standard 3.4-liter V6 mated to a hybrid system. It produces a ton of horsepower and torque, and the Sequoia is much quicker than you’d expect from a vehicle this large.

2025 Toyota Sienna
- Starting at $40,635 MSRP*
- Up to 36 city / 36 highway / 36 combined MPG**
- Seating - 7 or 8 Passengers
This is the whole reason why minivans exist, to provide a spacious and versatile interior that carries the whole family in maximum comfort. While the Sequoia might have the most interior space of any Toyota SUV, the Sienna offers even more, and with dual sliding rear doors, that space is much more easily accessible. While the Grand Highlander offers nearly as much maximum cargo space, the 48.8 inches of third-row legroom in the Sienna is more than nearly any SUV on the market can offer in even the second row. And the 66.2 inches of second-row legroom is enough for the kind of reclining seats you usually only find in seriously expensive luxury models. A hybrid drivetrain is standard, so you can add efficiency to the long list of advantages that come with the Sienna.
