About the Toyota Tacoma

When it comes to midsize pickup trucks, the proven leader of the pack remains the legendary Toyota Tacoma. Even while competing brands abandoned the segment altogether in decades past, the Tacoma solidified its reputation with long-lasting dependability, go-anywhere performance capabilities, and innovative features that help you work both smarter and harder. Speaking of power, the Tacoma stands out from the rest with a proven lineup of two i-FORCE engines that combine muscle with efficiency in ways that rivals cannot match. Better still, the Tacoma is available in an impressive range of trim levels ranging from work-ready and value-packed to downright luxurious and immensely capable. From professionals looking to get the job done to adventurous off-road enthusiasts chasing their next adventure – the Toyota Tacoma continues to be the benchmark by which all other midsize pickup trucks are measured.

What the Critics Say

“All 4WD versions of the Tacoma do very well, but the TRD Off-Road has the suspension, tires and abundant clearance to go places other pickups, including other volume-selling midsize truck models, cannot. The locking differential, terrain select and crawl control systems are real advantages.” — Edmunds

“Thanks to its reputation for reliability and durability, the Toyota Tacoma is a good choice if you want to keep your truck for a long time, and TRD Pro models should work if you also want a midsize truck with great off-road capability.” — Motor Trend

What’s New for 2026

Now entering the third year of production for the current generation of the Toyota Tacoma, shoppers will discover a number of minor but noteworthy improvements for the 2026 model year. A tow hitch now comes standard on every Tacoma SR XtraCab this year. Additionally, a new Heritage Blue exterior color has replaced Blue Crush Metallic from last year. In a similar fashion, TRD Pro trims are now offered in a Wave Maker exterior color while Mudbath is a new paint choice found on TRD PreRunner, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road models. The aforementioned trims also gain gloss black Toyota emblems. Last but not least, TRD Off-Road i-FORCE models are now available with a new Premium package that includes unique 18-inch TRD wheels along with 32-inch Goodyear AT tires.

Toyota Tacoma Performance

Toyota Tacoma Features

Engineered to conquer any obstacle standing in its path, the legendary Toyota Tacoma is available with your choice of two robust engines. Up first is the standard fuel-efficient i-FORCE 2.4L Turbo Engine, providing an ideal blend of power and fuel economy to go the distance. Craving even more power? Upgrade to the available i-FORCE MAX Hybrid Engine that benefits from a 48-horsepower electric motor to crank out an impressive 326 horsepower. In total, the Tacoma is rated for up to 1,705 pounds of payload capacity along with a maximum towing capacity of up to 6,500 pounds.

Even when the asphalt turns to gravel, the Tacoma is ready for the challenge with a standard electronically controlled locking rear differential found on TRD Off-Road models. Available Multi-Terrain Select features five individual modes to help minimize wheelspin in slippery conditions. Pushing the limits of off-road capability are Tacoma TRD Pro models, equipped with exclusive features like Bilstein® shocks for rough terrain. Every Tacoma is built using high-strength, hot-stamped steel for superior safety and performance.

Clever Utility Features

Forward-thinking design cues and breakthrough technologies are another advantage that comes from choosing the Toyota Tacoma over the competition. Keeping all of your cargo and gear secure in the bed is simple thanks to a standard deck rail system that offers four adjustable tie-down cleats for personalized organization. You’ll also notice a separate storage compartment to keep things safely stored out of sight. A standard easy-open tailgate is both removable and lockable for enhanced security. Great for your next tailgate party, an available bed-mounted storage box can double as an insulated cooler and features a handy drain plug as well. Exploring off the beaten path is simplified by an available bed-mounted air compressor, great for airing up or airing down tire pressures in the field. A full catalog of Genuine Toyota accessories and pre-wired auxiliary switches make it easy to customize your Tacoma exactly to your needs.

Toyota Tacoma Interior

Ergonomic Interior

No matter what the day has in store for you, the premium interior of the Toyota Tacoma features a thoughtful layout that balances ergonomics with cutting-edge tech to help you get the most out of every mile. Whether you use your truck for play or work, the interior of the Tacoma makes it simple to stay comfortable using its front dual-zone climate control system. An optional 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display (MID) lets you monitor real-time drive information like your tire pressures, fuel economy, and Pitch and Roll settings. A specialized cab-to-bed seal helps boost in-cab refinement and keep exterior noise to a minimum. Highlights of upscale amenities available inside the Tacoma include leather upholstery and a power moonroof. Every Tacoma comes standard with the most current Toyota Audio Multimedia system featuring Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration to access your favorite apps and media. All of those great features can be viewed on an available 14-inch touchscreen display.
